July 23, 2015 - Principals' Biweekly Message

In this Biweekly Principals' Message:

  1. Multi-tiered System of Support Update
  2. NC Informational Module for National Board Certification™
  3. Update on NC Digital Learning Plan

Multi-tiered System of Support Update

School-based administrators are critical to the implementation and sustainability of a Multi-tiered System of Support. Preparation for statewide implementation is designed around four work groups: Research and Evaluation, Professional Development, Technical Assistance and Coaching, and Communication and Visibility. These groups are examining research, implementing communication systems, creating professional development and coaching models, as well as vetting tools and resources that will support execution around the six critical components of MTSS. Your school has access to information regarding the communication and development of the work at http://mtss.ncdpi.wikispaces.net/ as well as thru the NCDPI MTSS Consultant team.
The MTSS consultants analyzed the input provided on the 82 Readiness Instruments in order to offer a customized plan of guidance to district and charter teams. In the upcoming school year, approximately 34 district or charter teams will begin taking the MTSS Blended Learning Course, which is based on these results and the critical components of MTSS. Additionally, throughout the school year, the NCDPI MTSS ConsultantTeam will be providing “stand alone” workshops on Leadership within a MTSS model, Communication and Collaboration, and Building the Capacity/Infrastructure for Implementation. These will be advertised via RESAs, DPI Communication and/or the wiki space referenced above.
For more detailed information on MTSS and the statewide support, please see our School Administrator Brief found on the home page of the wiki.
